goat cheese stuffed turkey burgers w/ basil butter garlic cream sauce

so this idea came to me when i was trying to think of something to do with the goat cheese i bought from costco. i love goat cheese and am always looking for new ways to use it. i saw a recipe for grilled cheese stuffed turkey burgers and that sparked my interests so i thought i would experiment. thankfully they were a success.

here you go....

1 lb ground turkey
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
italian breadcrumbs (enough to help hold your patties together)
1 egg
salt and pepper
goat cheese

mix all ingredients but the cheese in a bowl. divide into four equal parts. take half of one of the parts and form patty. place cheese in middle and mash the other half on top to form a whole patty. repeat with the rest of the meat mixture. grill in grill pan until turkey is no longer pink.
*reminder: ground turkey is a lot mushier than beef so let it cook for a while before you flip it.

basil butter garlic cream sauce

melt app half stick of butter in skillet. add 1 tsp minced garlic and some chopped fresh basil. slowly add heavy cream, stirring, until a nice thick sauce forms. salt to taste.

i served these with baked sweet potato fries sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.

happy cooking!

  2. oh my gosh, this sounds wonderful! this past weekend at 101 I had goat cheese on top of my chicken and forgot how YUMMY it is.
would you mind one day posting how you do your sweet potato fries? we make them all the time but never turn out looking (or feeling) like actual fries!
I can't wait to try out this recipe :)

  3. caroline... for the fries all i did with cut them and then spray them really well with mazola spray. then sprinkle all over with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. they will be soft, not crunchy like regular fries. then if you want after you take them out you can sprinkle with a little more cinnamon.

  4. Thanks for the inspiration, Kelli. I made this for supper tonight! Except, I made them as sliders and used feta and topped with caramelized onions... I'm going to try the basil sauce another time, but it looks so fresh and good!

Do you have any new ideas for packed lunches? Anthony needs these almost every day, and I like to mix it up, but am running short on variations of ham and cheese :) Oh, and it has to be able to sit in a lunchbox in the car.

    I love this blog!
